Showcasing Local Farms, Hospitality House Begins Summer Food Series June 30

unnamed-2

Hospitality House is kicking off the summer by hosting the first Summer Food Series open house event on Tuesday, June 30. The first in this three part series will feature food from North Fork Farm as well as live music from Big Bang Boom. All are welcome to take part in this free event at 338 Brook Hollow Rd. Boone, NC from 6 – 7:30 pm.

Hospitality House welcomes everyone to join them this summer as they showcase some of the finest local food being grown in the High Country and support local farmers in the High Country Local First network. Those living in the four-core counties of the Hospitality House service area (Watauga, Wilkes, Ashe, and Avery) are encouraged to attend this unique community meal and open house featuring North Fork Farm, a small family farm located in Zionville, NC. North Fork Farm provides beef, pork, and chicken with no added preservatives, antibiotics, or hormones. Hospitality House believes that everyone should have access to healthy, locally sourced, fresh food.

Since 1984, it has been the mission of Hospitality House to help people rebuild their lives while providing a safe, nurturing, and healthy environment for individuals and families experiencing various crises or homelessness. Through the provision of food, shelter, and supportive services the hope and goal is for each adult and child to leave feeling empowered and equipped with the skills that will allow them to become more self-sufficient and productive community members.

Hospitality House continues to serve as the only 24-hour homeless facility, outside of domestic violence facilities, for seven rural North Carolina mountain counties. Approximately 80% of homeless individuals only experience homelessness once. The services Hospitality House provides, with the support of partnering agencies, helps ensure that those who leave Hospitality House will have the resources to be self-sufficient.
