BOONE, NC – As the historic 66th season of the Horn in the West outdoor drama nears its closing date of Saturday, August 5, the show offers final discounts for members of Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties. On Friday, August 4, and Saturday, August 5, tickets for Horn in the West are $5.00 for members of Watauga, Ashe, and Avery counties. To receive the discount, members of said counties must purchase their tickets at the ticket office at 591 Horn in the West Drive the day of the show. Proof of residency is also required to receive the discounted price. Proof of residency includes a driver’s license, school identification, or government issued ID with a Watauga, Avery, or Ashe county address. “We want our locals to be involved with their own history,” says Carson Sailor, Executive Director of the Southern Appalachian Historical Association. “We could not function without our local supporters and hope to see them out for the final showings of Horn in the West.” Guests are encouraged to visit the Hickory Ridge Living History Museum prior to the show. Sailor encourages surrounding counties to “come out and enjoy one of the longest lasting outdoor dramas in the United States!”

The Southern Appalachian Historical Association oversees both Horn in the West and the Hickory Ridge Living History museum. The association keeps the history of the High Country alive with accurate representations of 18th century Appalachia. The Hickory Ridge Living History Museum is open Tuesday – Sunday with tours at 10:00 A.M. and 2:00 P.M. Horn in the West runs from June 23 – August 5. The show runs every night except Monday.
