The Town of Boone would like to invite everyone to celebrate a weekend full of activities in Boone.

The festivities begin today, Oct. 6, at 6 p.m., with the 2017 Appalachian State University Homecoming Parade and First Friday Art Crawl. The parade will travel through the campus of ASU and along King Street in downtown Boone. Immediately following the parade, ASU will be hosting APPtoberfest and a Homecoming Street Party on Howard Street.

Streets will close just prior to the parade step off at 6 p.m., all traffic lanes through downtown will remain open until that time. For a short period during the parade, traffic coming into town from the West will be rerouted via the Poplar Grove Connector. The Town of Boone, Appalachian State University, and Watauga County are working together to ensure the safety of all guests, and to keep traffic disruption to a minimum. AFTER 5:00 p.m., free parking is available for visitors to downtown in any of the Town of Boone public parking lots, on King Street, or in Watauga County’s Human Services Center parking lot, which is just a short walk to the parade route, and downtown amenities.
