May 2, 2013. The High Country Women’s Fund (HCWF) announces its theme of Hats Off! for the 2013 Power of the Purse events.

Hats Off!  represents the thankfulness of HCWF to the community for their generosity as the HCWF anticipates reaching the $500,000 allocation mark in 2013-14 . Since its founding in 2006, High Country Women’s Fund has distributed $445,490 in funds to women and their families in Watauga and Avery counties.

The first event is the annual signature event is the Power of the Purse® (POP) luncheon on June 14, at the Blowing Rock Country Club.  Following are two wonderful events, Croquet for a Cause on Aug. 11, and Holiday Shopping Spree on Nov. 9-10.

Corporate sponsorships are still available. This is a great opportunity for your business to reach hundreds of women that purchase goods and services in our community. Your business will be featured in our Program Guide and distributed at all of our fundraising events and website throughout the year. You can also include your business card, gift or brochure in an advertising gift bag at the Power of the Purse Luncheon attended by over 300 women. Sponsorships forms available at www.hcwf.org or call (828) 264-4007.

In addition to these fundraisers, the High Country Women’s Fund has a number of projects that directly involve the women and their families. These projects include the Mother’s Day POP Shoppe in May, New Opportunity School for Women in July, Winter Coat Drive in October, and Children’s Council Christmas Angel Tree in November.

Founded in 2006, the High Country Women’s Fund is a dedicated giving circle of caring and committed women, whose mission is to affect positive change for women and their families in Avery and Watauga counties. The organization endeavors to inspire, educate, and empower women moving toward self-sufficiency by connecting them with local resources and with other caring women in our community. The High Country Women’s Fund is an initiative of the High Country United Way.
