On Wednesday, June 14, between 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyone is welcome to F.A.R.M. (Feed All Regardless of Means) Cafe at 617 West King Street for a very special day at the Café as a part of what is now a successful monthly event where a local business, group, or organization ‘Buy Boone Lunch’.

In addition to making the day’s meal possible, several of the High Country Radio personalities and staff will be volunteering as servers and in other roles at the Cafe. The friends you hear each day on High Country Radio stations are getting out of the studio and coming to be heard and seen at Boone’s Community Cafe. In addition to High Country Radio ‘Buying Boone Lunch’, Brian Fisher of WMMY will be broadcasting live from F.A.R.M. Cafe between 11 to 1 p.m..

Jessica Goeden, of High Country Radio, stated, “Through multiple annual initiatives, the High Country Radio Stations work with local area non-profits and businesses to increase awareness, and help battle the hunger epidemic right in our own back yard.  ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ gives us a hands-on opportunity to not only help those that may benefit from FARM Cafe’s Donate-What-You-Can platform, but also help bring awareness and spark involvement from our stations loyal listeners and those that are passionate about community causes across our listening areas. The High Country Radio stations and GoBlueRidge.net are proud to support Boone and the surrounding communities.”

The monthly ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ days are similar to regular days at F.A.R.M. Cafe where guests can donate what they are able to for a great lunch. However, with High Country Radio sponsoring the meal on Wednesday, June 14, all additional donations will be utilized by the cafe in its mission to fight food insecurity in the High Country. Since it began last Fall the monthly ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ program has raised over $10,000 for the direct mission of the Cafe representing 1000 meals that can now be provided for persons experiencing food insecurity. In 2016 F.A.R.M. Cafe served over 19,000 meals with over 3,400 provided free or in exchange for an hour of volunteer work.

“We are very much looking forward to another great ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ day at F.A.R.M. Cafe on June 14”, said Renee Boughman, Executive Chef, “It is going to be exciting to have the live broadcast and our friends from local radio being a part of the community that happens at F.A.R.M. Cafe every day.”

“Every month the ‘Buy Boone Lunch’ events are such a win/win opportunity for organizations like High Country Radio who understand the importance of supporting non-profit agencies such as F.A.R.M. Cafe. Non-Profits are such as F.A.R.M. are a vital part of the Boone and High Country communities. Radio helps us get this word out to many more people,”Tommy Brown, Volunteer Coordinator at F.A.R.M. Cafe said, referring to the success of Buy Boone Lunch. “We invite every local listener to come meet the personalities, get on live radio, and enjoy a great meal for a great cause.”
