Nov. 20, 2014. The holidays are quickly approaching, have you gotten started on your seasonal shopping yet? Not to worry, there are many local holiday markets in the High Country this year that will have exactly what you need to satisfy everyone on your list. The Watauga County Farmers’ Market will be open every Saturday in November from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The vendors will be carrying special holiday products such as wreaths, holiday foods and gifts. Customers can expect seasonal produce, meats, eggs, breads, jams and jellies, wreaths and unique crafts at this market, located in the Horn in the West parking lot in Boone.
The Ashe County Holiday Farmers’ Market will be held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Nov. 22, 29 and Dec. 6. in downtown West Jefferson. Admission is free, and items for sale will include holiday wreaths, handmade soaps, arts and crafts items, delicious homemade foodstuffs, quilts, produce and more. The eighth annual Beech Mountain Holiday Market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. The market, hosted at Beech Mountain’s Buckeye Recreation Center, will offer copper and steel art work, pottery, woodwork, wire, glass and pearl jewelry, yarn art and accessories, gourmet food, gift baskets and much more. Also available will be kids games and activities, and a food drive will be held to benefit St. Bernadette’s Food Bank. The Caldwell Arts Council will host Satie’s Holiday Sale every day except Sundays through Dec. 24. Artists and crafters from Caldwell and surrounding counties create lovely handmade items for holiday gifts. The entire house changes over to a gift shop during December, full of beautiful items for your shopping delight! The Boone Service League will host the 7th annual Holiday Market on Dec. 6. The event will take place at Watauga High School in Boone. Held in conjunction with the Watauga Education Foundation’s Flapjack Flip, customers can shop their holiday craft needs from 7:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. while enjoying a pancake breakfast.
