High Country Crime Stoppers: Two Truck Thefts in Avery, Damaged Gravestones on Belview Mountain

Jan. 27, 2014. The Avery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two reports of thefts from vehicles since the first of 2014. The first theft occurred in Elk Park, the second occurred in the Banner Elk area. Both thefts resulted in large truck batteries being stolen from trucks. It is believed that these  thefts are related.

The Avery County Sheriff’s Office is also investigating damage to gravestones at a family gravesite on Belview Mountain.  

Anyone with information about these incidents is requested to call the Avery County Sheriff’s Office at 733-2071 or the High County Crime Stoppers at 737-0125. Callers who provide information to Crime Stoppers that lead to arrest of suspects, recovery of stolen property or seizure of contraband are eligible for cash award. Callers to Crime Stoppers are not required to reveal their names.
