
The team will now travel to Raleigh May 5 to participate in the state competition representing Region seven of the N.C. Public Schools.
Hardin Park Media Specialist and BoB Coach Candice Trexler said the state competition was an intense contest between just nine teams, the top BoB competitors from across North Carolina.
WHS JROTC takes home awards at Appalachian Regional Championship
The Watauga High School Marine Corps JROTC wrapped up its competitive season last week, placing second overall in its at the Appalachian Regional JROTC Championships hosted by Science Hill High School in Johnson City, Tenn.
The WHS Cadet Air Rifle Marksmanship and Physical Fitness Teams took first place, the Academic Team took home a second place spot, and the Drill Team placed second and third respectively in the Inspection and Advanced Unarmed Squad events.
WHS Senior Marine Instructor Lt. Col. Gerald Harper expressed his pride in his cadet’s dedication and commitment to their work.
“The cadets worked very hard,” Harper said. “They did a terrific job and are continuing to build on a long tradition of excellence at WHS.”
