Halloween Fun for the Big Kids; Check Out All of the Fun Things for Adults to Do to Celebrate Halloween Night!

Oct. 29, 2014. Halloween isn’t just for the kids! Adults are getting geared up for a good time come Halloween night on Friday, Oct. 31. Dress up in your best costume and head out for a night on the town in the High Country to celebrate the season in style. Pick a place from our list and have a night to remember!

Twigs: Come to Twigs for the annual Halloween Party and costume contest on Friday, Oct. 31. Prizes will be awarded for the best costume, and live music will be provided.

Murphy’s Pub: Dress up for the “Spirit Animal” Halloween costume contest at Murphy’s Pub on Halloween night as well as Foxy Feline Faux Fur Fashion Frolic. If you win, you could win a Murphy’s gift certificate! Live music will be provided by local band Wave Lynx with Funklestinskin.

imgresBoone Town Tavern: Head to the Town Tavern in Boone for a Halloween Karaoke Party with no cover charge. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes.

Blowing Rock Town Tavern: The Blowing Rock Town Tavern will host a Halloween party on Halloween night. The party will feature costume contests with awesome prizes, live music by The Harris Brothers and more.

Green Park Inn: The “Grande Dame” of the High Country is the perfect venue for a night of Halloween fun. On Friday, Oct. 31, the Green Park Inn will host a Halloween Masquerade Party from 6-10 p.m. The party will have a “Phantom of the Opera” theme and will feature music and dancing with a DJ on stage from 6-10 p.m.

Boone Saloon: Boone Saloon will host a Halloween party featuring live music from Bafoodus. There will be a $7 cover charge for the night.

Appalachian Mountain Brewery: Appalachian Mountain Brewery will host an EPIC Halloween Party on Halloween night. The party will feature great brews and live music provided by Ban Dam.

The Rock: On Halloween night,  The Rock will host a Halloween Bash and costume contest starting at 7:30 p.m. The costume contests will begin at 8:30 p.m. with prizes for best costumes and best kids costumes too. Great food and drink specials will also be available.

Cafe Portofino: At Cafe Portofino, there will be new pumpkin beers available and various other drink specials available on Halloween night. In addition, the waitstaff will be dressed up in costume and customers are invited to do the same!

Lost Providence: Lost Providence Brewing Company will host a special Halloween-themed movie night featuring an interactive screening of “Rocky Horror Picture Show.”

Hillbilly Horror: On Halloween night, Honeybear Campground will continue the nights of Halloween fright. Activities at the campground include hayrides, outdoor movies, Zombie Defender and a haunted trail.

The Local: The Local, located on Howard Street, will host a Halloween Party on Halloween night. The party will feature a costume contest, food and drink specials and more.

Bayou Smokehouse and Grill: Halloween night the Bayou in Banner Elk will feature an All Hallow’s Eve Party with costume contests and a special on Laughing Skull Beer in a Laughing Skull glass, while they last. The party will go from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Nick’s Restaurant and Pub: Nick’s in Banner Elk will be celebrating Halloween with karaoke, a DJ, costume contests with great prizes and much more with no cover charge.

Black Cat: Black Cat Burrito will feature a Halloween concert with live music provided by The Nude Party.

Legends: Yo Mama’s Big Fat Booty Band will headline in Legends at ASU on Halloween night. The show will start at 9 p.m. and tickets are $8 for students in advance and $12 at the door.

Haunted Valle: If you’re looking for a good scare for a good cause this Halloween, look no further than the Appalachian Educators’ Haunted Valle, held Oct. 27-31 at Camp Broadstone in Valle Crucis. Formerly the Haunted Horn, the spooktacular event will be held from 7-10 p.m. each night on the trail located at 1471 Broadstone Rd. Admission for the event is $10 for adults and $8 for students, and is intended for attendees ages 10 and up.
