Sic Alps and Burgler F***** at Black Cat Wednesday

The San Francisco-based Sic Alps is certainly an uncommon band to have visit Boone. Sic Alps were hand-picked by Pavement as the support act on their 2010 UK reunion tour. Legend has it they were once described by Stephen Malkmus himself as “one of the most important bands of the next ten years”. They’re known for their scrappy, lo-fi garage sound. On its eponymous fifth long-player, the trademark layers of grimy fuzz are occasionally thin enough to glimpse the vaguest hint of a pop melody underneath, but long-term fans needn’t worry: the acid-folk and ’60s freakbeat leanings are still evident, along with that noisy edge.

Burgler F***** is a trio out of Winston-Salem and its Facebook page says, “features Anthony Petrovic (Baritone Guitar attempt and vomit) Ralph Pritts (Saxamaphone and Murder) Ian Lockey (Drum Drums).

Should be interesting – Tickets are $5 at the door. Doors open at 10:30 p.m. Only ages 18 and older will be admitted. For more information, call Black Cat at (828) 263-9511.
