Dying to go to Bonnaroo Music and Arts festival this year? Pick up a raffle ticket at Haircut 101 for as little as $3 before May 16 and you could win two V.I.P. tickets! All proceeds will support OASIS — a local nonprofit aimed at “opposing abuse with service, information and shelter.”
Relying heavily on volunteers and contributions, OASIS serves survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault through advocacy and support. It served 340 clients in 2014-15, as well as 228 of their children, and received more than 1,800 crisis and information calls on its 24-hour crisis line.

“It’s important to support OASIS because they are heavily involved in the local community. It’s really great that they can offer free services — I think that’s fantastic,” said Haircut 101 Manager Brittany Benton. “They run on a volunteer basis, so we understand that they need a lot of help. The least we can do is support them monetarily so they can continue to offer their services in the community.”
Haircut 101 believes firmly in giving back to the local community, and owner/stylist John Mena plans to raise as much money as possible for OASIS.
With two V.I.P. tickets to Bonnaroo on the line, there’s no doubt he’ll make a difference.
“My son, Corey, and I went a few years ago for his 18th birthday and had a blast. I would love to give two people the same awesome experience,” Mena said. “I think this would be a great way to extend a fun time to two lucky people, along with raising money for OASIS that excels in helping our local community.”
The annual four-day, multi-stage camping festival is held on a 700-acre farm in Manchester, Tennessee and is slated for June 9-12 this year. The 2016 line-up will feature acts including Pearl Jam, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Ellie Goulding, Death Cab for Cutie, Band of Horses and many more.
“We’re in a college town, and a lot of college kids are really into music festivals. Not only that, I know from my personal experience and from John’s, that Bonnaroo is something a lot of families can go to, as well,” Benton said. “It’s a good time to let loose and hang out, so it would be a good experience for everyone. It’s a lot of fun.”
Raffle tickets are on sale now at the front desk at $3 for one, $5 for two or $40 for 20. Stop by Haircut 101 at 174 S. Depot St. in downtown Boone and get yours today!
