Habitat for Humanity to Host Charity Concert at Memorial Presbyterian Church Sunday, May 7

On Sunday, May 7th at 3:00 p.m. at Rumple Memorial Presbyterian Church, a benefit concert will be held featuring vocalist Melissa Tausche, Classical Soprano and Jonathon Asbell on the piano. There is a suggested donation of $15 to attend and all proceeds go to Watauga County Habitat for Humanity.

Melissa’s husband, Ed Tausche, is the project coordinator for Watauga Habitat and he is currently competing for the title of Big Kahuna of Watauga County Habitat for Humanity. The Big Kahuna Campaign is comprised of twelve philanthropic community members advocating and competing to raise the most money for Watauga Habitat. The Kahuna who raises the most money will be crowned the Big Kahuna at the Don Ho-Down on Thursday, May 18th at 8 p.m. at Appalachian Mountain Brewery. All proceeds raised during the Kahuna Campaign support Watauga Habitat for Humanity.

Watauga Habitat for Humanity strives to provide decent, affordable housing to low-income Watauga County residents. We do this by building modest homes with volunteer labor, land and materials that are donated or purchased at reduced cost. Habitat offers zero interest mortgages to the home owners. Homes are sold at no profit.

The Habitat ReStore is an innovative response to the problem of construction waste piling up in land-fills. It is costly as well as environmentally irresponsible to landfill such waste.
Contractors, engineers, architects, remodelers and ‘do-it-yourselfers’ are encouraged to contact the Habitat ReStore at 828-268-9696 to find out if we have usable materials for your upcoming projects. For more information, to donate, or volunteer go to wataugahabitat.org.
