Construction of a new hotel in Boone will commence with Poteat Hospitality Associates’ groundbreaking ceremony on Monday, April 27, at 11 a.m.
The groundbreaking for the new Hampton Inn and Suites will take place at the vacant lot along U.S. 421, just across the street from the Bubbles Car Wash and Bojangles’ restaurant.
In October, representatives of the property owner for the lot at 1156 East King St., which is located between U.S. 421 and Old East King Street, appeared before the Boone Board of Adjustment seeking approval for a variance pertaining to the height of a retaining wall.
Poteat Hospitality Associates, which also operates the Courtyard by Marriott on N.C. 105, plans to open the hotel in the summer of 2016.
According to a release announcing the groundbreaking ceremony, the five-story development will consist of 113 rooms and represent a $14 million investment. It will also feature 768 square feet of meeting space, indoor pool, fitness center, and beautiful outdoor courtyard.
The public is invited to attend, and to RSVP for the event, contact Jessica Smith at 828.265.7676 or Jessica.Smith@marriott.com.
Highway frontage along U.S. 421 continues to spur development in that part of the country. Last year, Bojangle’s and Bubbles Car Wash opened and Modern Automotive broke ground on 12 acres for two new dealership facilities for Modern Toyota and Modern Subaru.
