For nine consecutive years, Groovy Nights has provided fun filled entertainment to the High Country with This year is the 10th anniversary of Groovy Nights, and it promises to be the biggest and best yet! Sandy Miller, Chair of the Blowing Rock Community Foundation for the past 13 years, invites everyone to celebrate the 10th anniversary with them, “We’ve got some people who have been with it the entire 10 years, and this year we’re celebrating with new acts and repeats of some of the best of the best. We have 18 acts, so we’re going to celebrate with a big one!”

The fundraiser is held by the Blowing Rock Community Foundation and will take place at Blowing Rock Country Club. The 2018 Groovy Nights are scheduled for August 26th, August 28th, and August 31st. What better way to end August than watching great lip-sync acts perform decked out in their costumes with groovy dance routines?

Sunday, August 26 at 7 p.m.

Tuesday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, August 31 at 7:30 p.m.

Groovy Nights will be on August 26th, 28th and 31st.

Miller recalls that 10 years ago Groovy Nights started with the direction of Karen Curlyn, “She brought the idea to the Blowing Rock Community Foundation, and we have been runnin’ with it ever since.”

Groovy Nights wouldn’t be possible without the continued efforts of returning volunteers. “George Wilcox is still our MC. He’s been our MC since day one, so we’re thrilled to have him back. Kim McDonald is a big part of Groovy Night too. She helps out every year,” says Miller.

Tickets for this year’s Groovy Nights can be purchased at the door or on the website, http://blowingrockcf.org/groovy-nights-registration/. Miller suggests coming early. The Foundation looks forward to giving out over $100,000 in scholarships this year, “We follow our students for four years as long as they make good grades. We feel very fortunate that we’re able to do this for our kids.”
