Grizzlies Beat Firebirds 47-31, Next Home Matchup is Set for May 20 Against Steelhawks

It was a huge bounce back for the High Country Grizzlies (3-3) against the Georgia Firebirds (2-5).

It was an explosive showing for the Grizzlies Sunday afternoon coming off of two bye weeks for the team. They High Country had a total of 85 net rushing yards on 22 attempts paired with 115 net yards passing on 32 attempts. On the offensive side they had a total of 200 yards across 55 plays. On the defensive side of the ball the Grizzlies showed up and forced three interceptions for a gain of 13 yards and resulting in one touchdown along with a total of six sacks for 31 yards.

Key players for the Grizzlies were Undra Hendrix, Malachi Jones and Greg Betterson. Hendrix had 80 rushing yards along with three receiving yards, Jones had 52 receiving yards along with a touchdown and Betterson had a total of 42 receiving yards for the High Country. Daron Clark had four rushing yards, 18 receiving yards and 54 kick return yards for a total of 76 yards for the Grizzly!

Running back Undra Hendrix, who played a major role in the game on Sunday said, “I am fortunate to be on a great team. All of the guys all week (Speedy and Ro) were telling me to take advantage of my running opportunities and I was able too. All glory to God because without him I am nothing. I thought the offensive line played great. They were moving their d-line all night. As a whole we still have a lot to improve on, but our defense, Sutton, Berry, Ford and Farmer took over the game early until our offense started going.”

The Grizzlies will be back in the den again on May 20 against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks (6-1). Kick off is set for 7 p.m. with doors opening at 5 p.m. for spectators. We hope to see everyone there sporting their Grizzlies gear and ready to go!
