Making plans for New Year’s Eve? Join the Grand Dame of the High Country for glitz, glamour, fine dining and a celebration of historic proportions! Seats are limited and going fast for the annual Dec. 31 Black and White Gala at the Green Park Inn, so call today and make your reservations.
Party in style this year with a four-course meal, a champagne toast and live music from the High Standards Big Band as the Green Park rings in 2016 and kicks off a celebration of its 125th year in the High South.
“It’s great food, great music and a wonderful environment in a very historic hotel. If you’re here for New Year’s, you’re helping us bring in the 125th anniversary of the Green Park,” said Zack Toler, special projects coordinator at the inn. “When you walk in the building, you can just feel the history.
“We’re the last of the grand manor hotels in the High South. It’s really nice to walk into this place and think about how many years it’s been around, and how many people have celebrated New Year’s Eve here in that time.”
Choose one of three entrees — lobster, filet or scallops — for dinner. The first course will be served at 9 p.m., with early bird seating set for 8:30 p.m. Dinner will be followed with dancing to the tunes of the High Standards and a champagne toast at midnight.
“We play what’s called ‘the standards.’ If you’re familiar with that musical genre, you know it as music from the late ’20s through the early 1960s,” said Steve Frank, saxophone player and front man for the band. “Everything Frank Sinatra sang would be considered a standard, and the music from the rat pack era.
Frank said the group will add two more horns, a trumpet and a trombone, to the set for this special show.
“The Green Park’s events always revolve around a wonderful, wonderful meal. They do a great job,” Frank said. “We try to accentuate that with what I call a ‘digestible set’—nice, laid back dinner music that won’t interfere with your conversation. When everyone’s finished with dinner, that’s when they want to start dancing and that’s when we’ll build up the energy.”
Ring in the New Year at this can’t-miss event! Reservations are required for this exciting affair and only 30 more spaces remain available, so call today if you’d like to attend. The four-course dinner, dancing and champagne toast will cost $87 per person plus tax and 20 percent gratuity.

“This is probably the highest end event that takes place in the High Country on New Year’s Eve, and it’s meant to be that way,” said Frank. “It’s based around a really fine meal and we try to provide as fine a collection of music as we can for that. We want to accentuate what the Green Park does.”
