Oct. 28, 2014. The “Grande Dame” of the High Country is the perfect venue for a night of Halloween fun. On Friday, Oct. 31, the Green Park Inn will host a Halloween Masquerade Party from 6-10 p.m.
The party will have a “Phantom of the Opera” theme and will feature music and dancing with a DJ on stage from 6-10 p.m.
“This is the Green Park Inn, it is such an appropriate place for a masquerade party,” said General Manager Lorry Mulhern.
Music will flow all night, with dance music interspersed with music from the “Phantom of the Opera” soundtrack.
Seatings for dinner will be held at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. for the masquerade dinner. The buffet will remain open until 8:30 p.m. Reservations are strongly recommended.
The menu includes three delicious courses. Start off with a garden salad with balsamic vinaigrette and Green Park dinner rolls with gourmet butters. Then, enjoy a buffet dinner with options like seafood fettuccine, beef stroganoff and buttermilk fried chicken breast with pineapple mango salsa and an assortment of side dishes. Top it all off with an apple dumpling with sour apple sauce for dessert, and all for just $29.95 per person plus tax and gratuity.
The meal will be prepared by the Green Park Inn’s skilled chef, Robert Back.
Along with the fun, there will be a costume contest. The contest will be looking for the best themed costume, but all costumes are welcome. First prize is overnight accommodations at the Green Park Inn along with dinner for two in the Chestnut Grille.
“We have really had our hands full the last four years trying to restore the hotel and get on top of maintenance so that it will never get to the state it was when we took it over,” Mulhern said. “We have been focusing a lot on the other holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, and Mother’s Day and Easter. I knew Halloween was coming on a Friday this year, and it just seemed like a great year to expand our theme events.

“The Green Park Inn really is the perfect place for Halloween,” Mulhern said. “A big old rambling wooden hotel is just perfect for the occasion.”
