Grandfather Mountain’s 89th Annual Singing on the Mountain to be Held June 23

June 11, 2013. GRANDFATHER MOUNTAIN, NC– This June 23, thousands of people from across the area will gather at MacRae Meadows in the spirit of God and fellowship.  Grandfather Mountain’s 89th Annual Singing on the Mountain is a joyful celebration of faith, claiming the title as the longest running old-time gospel music gathering in the Southern Appalachians. 

Founded in 1924 by Joe Hartley Sr., the “Singing” welcomes thousands to enjoy performances by top Southern Gospel groups. Each year, on the fourth Sunday in June, pilgrims come to Grandfather Mountain in Linville, NC from across the Southern Appalachians to celebrate life and God and to meet others that share their commitment.

This year’s speaker is Will Graham, grandson of the famous evangelist and iconic North Carolinian, Billy Graham.  Graham has spoken to audiences all over the world, across North America, Australia, India and parts of South America.  

Performing this year will be:  John’s River Quartet, The Chuckwagon Gang, The Cockman Family, Ernie Couch & Revival, Patricia Smith of Abundance Ministries, Michael Combs, Terry Warren and the Gospel Enforcers.

Unknown-3The “Singing” begins at 8:30 a.m. and the music continues until the middle of the afternoon, with a break at mid-day for Will Graham’s message. Admission is free with the motto remaining the same for 89 years:  “Whosoever will may come.”  Camping without hookups is available on the grounds on a first come basis June 16-24.
