Grade-School Kids Return To Class Next Week, Following Week for the College Students

By Jesse Wood

Soon the grade-school kids and college students will be back in school – once the New Year is in full swing.

Students in the Watauga County Schools system return to school on Monday, Jan. 4, while those that attend Two Rivers Community School and are in the Avery County Schools system go back to class on Tuesday, Jan. 5.

Fortunately for them – if they enjoy the winter sports – the temperature is forecasted drop for snowmaking at the resorts later this week. So before class returns to session, they should get at least one day to enjoy the slopes or tubing lanes.

As for the college kids, both Appalachian State University and Lees-McRae College holds first day of classes on Monday, Jan. 11.

Residence halls at LMC in Banner Elk open on Jan. 10 for returning students and new students.

At ASU in Boone, students can move in towards the middle to end of next week. The App Card office in Trivette Hall opens on Wednesday, Jan. 6 and rental textbook distribution begins Thursday, Jan. 7.

Hope you had a nice break!
