BLOWING ROCK — Tweetsie Railroad will open its gates for the 55th season of Wild West family adventure on April 13, providing guests with a golden chance for an early start at North Carolina’s first theme park. Tweetsie is sure to be an adventure for all ages, as the park fills each visit with Wild West action, rides, live shows and family memories to share for a lifetime. A 2012 Golden Rail Season Pass is the best way to experience all Tweetsie has to offer – at a very affordable rate. Tweetsie’s 2012 schedule offers endless fun for guests with an all-star entertainment lineup. Returning favorites include the July 4 Fireworks Extravaganza, the K-9s in Flight Frisbee Dogs and Tweetsie’s Ghost Train Halloween Festival. Other visiting friends include Thomas the Tank Engine for the annual Day Out With Thomas, Bob the Builder, Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer and Diego from Go, Diego, Go! and Rider’s In The Sky.
The Wild West adventure on Tweetsie’s historic steam-powered locomotive is sure to get hearts racing all season long. Guests can explore Tweetsie’s own Western town, discover toe-tappin’ live entertainment at Tweetsie Palace, or take a spin on one of the many rides — from thrilling to kid-sized. Get a bird’s eye view of the park from the chair lift to Miner’s Mountain, where visitors can pan for gold and meet the animals at the Deer Park Zoo.

Tweetsie Railroad will be open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays starting April 13, including Memorial Day Monday, and seven days a week from June 1 through Aug. 19. The park returns to the weekend schedule from Aug. 24 through Oct. 28, including Labor Day Monday. The 2012 season ends Sunday, Oct. 28. The park’s regular hours are 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., but will be open until 9:00 p.m. on July 4 and July 7, 14, 21 and 28 for Cool Summer Nights. In addition, the park will be open at 8:00 a.m. both Saturdays (June 2 and 9) for the popular Day Out With Thomas event. The Ghost Train Halloween Festival will take place Friday and Saturday nights Sept. 28 through Oct. 27 from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and price of admission is $28 for adults and children, children 2 and under admitted free.
