Gas Prices Because of Hurricane Harvey, Most Stations in Boone Selling Gallon for $2.45

By Jesse Wood

Gas prices are surging across the country because of Hurricane Harvey, which caused at least eight refineries in Texas to shutdown and others to operate on a limited basis, according to AAA.

Just a few days ago, the national gas price average was $2.37. On Thursday, the average price per gallon in the states is nearly $2.45. AAA notes that the average price in North Carolina is $2.36 per gallon Thursday, but most Boone motorists aren’t seeing those prices today.

Two gas stations in Boone, the Mobils at 1218 State Farm Road and 1220 West King Street, are selling a low of $2.35 per gallon on Thursday afternoon, according to NorthCarolinaGasPrices.com.

The rest of the local gas stations are pricing a gallon of gas at $2.45 or more.
