Save the date! Watauga Humane Society’s (WHS) Seventh Annual Spring Perennial, Herb, Seed, Garden Treasure, Craft and Yard Art Sale is Saturday, May 14, from 8:00 AM-12:00 PM, in the parking lot of Precision Printing Company, 1302 Blowing Rock Road, in Boone. All growing things come from the well-established gardens of the SNIPS (Spay Neuter Is a Positive Solution) committee members and friends. All proceeds will fund the low-cost spay-neuter specials offered regularly at WHS by the SNIPS.
Perennials for sale will be bearded iris (yellow), bee balm, black-eyed Susan, bright green garden moss and other ground covers, catchfly, columbine, crocosmia, day lilies (purple and bright orange), Dutch iris (purple), Echinacea (purple, red, yellow), ferns, gloriosa daisy, hosta (green and variegated), lily of the valley, money plant, ox-eye daisy, primrose (red), Queen Anne’s lace, Rose of Sharon, sedum, Shasta daisies, spirea (dark and light pink), star of Bethlehem, sundrop/lemondrop, tall phlox, wild geranium, wood iris (purple), wood poppy (yellow), and swamp iris (yellow.
Herbs will include feverfew, cilantro, lemon thyme, spearmint, and tarragon. We’ll also have young zucchini and crook-neck squash from seed, and aloe plants for your kitchen. A special offering this year will be hand-woven baskets filled with assorted herbs, and a beautifully painted, fully-stocked herb planter.
Hand-harvested perennial and annual seeds include balsam, black-eyed Susan, catchfly, columbine, foxglove, larkspur, lupine, money plant, morning glory, Queen Anne’s Lace and Shasta daisy.
A variety of garden-themed items will be for sale in a special section under the white SNIPS tent: glass and metal yard art, terrariums, lanterns, patio coasters, trivets and plant stands, hand-painted stepping stones, and lots of other treasures that make perfect gifts for your home and garden, or someone else’s.
