Shannan McCrackin, born in 1978, was stopped due to suspicion of a fictitious tag that did not come back registered to the vehicle she was driving. She claimed the tag belonged to her boyfriend’s car, although upon further investigation, that was not the case.

The VIN number was checked, and the car was found to be stolen from South Carolina. McCrackin had no driver’s license.

The arresting officer found McCrackin had an active warrant for a probation violation in Georgia.

According to the release, McCrackin has a lengthy history of drug activity, including morphine and methamphetamine possession, which led to her initial probation before her arrest on Beech Mountain.

She is currently being held in Watauga County Detention Center, awaiting transfer back to Georgia.
