July 18, 2013. For over 14 years High Country Honda, which is now Friendship Honda, has been working out of their location off Blowing Rock Road in Boone.

The company operates with nine different brands and two pre-owned lots in both Tennessee and North Carolina.

The new dealership will have fifteen bays for vehicle service, and Friendship Honda hired 30 percent more personnel to keep up with the demand of a bigger building.

Moving over from the High Country Honda name to the Friendship name gives the dealership the strength of group buying power, Dan Halsey, Boone area vice president and general manager of the dealership, said. This means the company can offer a larger selection of vehicles both new and pre-owned to the public.

In 2011, High Country Honda solidified the plan to build a new dealership, which broke ground in August 2012.

The new dealership was built and designed by two Tennessee-based companies, J.A. Street and Associates, Inc. and Appalachian Design Services.

Ribbon cutting is set for Thursday at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided to those in attendance.
