Free Thursday Matinee Concert with Julee and Mark Weems of Little Windows on Aug. 25

Joe Shannon’s Mountain Home Music is pleased to offer our Thursday, August 25th Matinee, “From Across the ‘Big Pond’ to Appalachia: A Musical Journey” for FREE! The Concert features “Little Windows”. If you enjoy the concert, you are invited to “pay as you exit.” These donations ($10 suggested) are used to support our musicians. The concert will be offered at the Harvest House in Boone at 2:30pm.

Longtime friends of JSMHM, Julee and Mark Weems together are known as Little Windows. When asked what the duo will feature for this special event Julee replied, “We’ve chosen some of our favorites which were often played and sung in cottages and pubs in the British Isles, and then traveled with the hearty settlers who brought their fiddles and their songs across the ocean and down the wagon road through the Shenandoah valley to North Carolina. We will take the audience on a musical journey from the British Isles to Appalachia. We both had singing grandmas, so we’ll add a touch of their gospel tunes to the mix.”

Mark is a multi-instrumentalist, playing banjo, guitar, and dulcimer. Julee, who learned traditional Irish singing during her seven-year stay in Dublin, often sings solo or accompanies the duo on the Irish drum. The two focus on the art of the pure voice with tight harmonies and often sing a cappella. Audiences are captivated by their pure sound.
