Free After-school Workshops for Kids and New Workshops for Adults Start Up at the Turchin Center

TurchinJan. 24, 2013. Appalachian State University’s Turchin Center for the Visual Arts offers workshops for all ages this winter ranging from drawing, book-making, open studios for kids and how to use art to help the grieving process. Discounts for adult workshops are offered for donors of the Turchin Center. All workshops for children are free and registration information can be found at http://tcva.org/workshops.

Kids Workshops- FREE for kids ages 6-12

Drawing Club
Tuesdays- 3:00-4:30 p.m.
Beginning January 29 through April 16

Like drawing cartoons and comics? Kids will work with pencils and pens to hone their skills!

Room 13 is an after school art program where children will be able to choose their own drawing and construction projects!

Blazing Easels Kids Workshop

Drawing and Painting the Human Figure
One Sunday a month through April 21

Join fellow community members in an opportunity to develop your drawing skills in an open environment. No direct instruction and a model will be on site. The Art of Grief
Exploring your grief through expressive art
One Saturday a month beginning February 23 through May 25
10:30 a.m. – Noon
Turchin Center Classroom 3200
Instructor: Carolyn Holder, MA, LPC, Grief Counselor-Expressive Arts Therapist 

Participants will begin the healing process through expressive arts including clay work, journaling, collage and other expressive outlets. No artistic skills needed. Flower, Leaf, Stick – Books for Springtime

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts presents exhibition, education and collection programs that support Appalachian State University’s role as a key regional educational, cultural and economic resource.

The Turchin Center is located at 423 West King St., in Boone. Hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Tues.-Thurs. and Saturday, and Noon-8 p.m., Friday. The Center is closed Sunday and Monday, and observes all university holidays. There is no admission charge, although donations are gratefully accepted.
