Oct. 29, 2012. The Appalachian State University’s Recreation Management program is hosting its fourth annual Black Saturday 5k on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 from 8 a.m. to raise money for its academic scholarship fund. The race starts and ends at the Holmes Convocation Center, leading participants through the heart of Appalachian State’s beautiful campus.
Early registration (before Nov. 10) is $10 for students and $15 for non-students. Day of registration is $20 for everyone. Awards will be given to the top male and female overall winners and top male and female in each of the following categories: Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, Senior, Faculty/Staff, Over 50 and Other.
T-shirts are available on a first come, first served basis and refreshments will be provided after the race.
Earth Fare is sponsoring early packet pick-up and pre-race pasta dinner Friday, Nov. 9, from 5-8 p.m. The cost of the pasta plate is $8 and includes a pasta plate with or without meat and a side salad with sweet tea or water. Come out and show your pride as we end the 2012 football season.
