Four Graduating Watauga High School Students Awarded College Scholarships from Blue Ridge Electric

June 27, 2013. Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation is committed to the community and helping students achieve their academic goals is one way of showing a commitment to the future of the cooperative’s service area. 

Four graduating seniors from Watauga High School were selected to receive college scholarships out of 80 applicants from Blue Ridge Electric’s service areas of Alleghany, Ashe, Caldwell, Watauga and Wilkes. Kimberly Robinson received a $1,000 scholarship to attend the institution of her choice. Amy Lupino received an $800 scholarship to attend Caldwell Community College. Khushbu Gosai received a $1,000 scholarship to attend North Carolina State University. Mariah Farris received a $500 scholarship to attend Western Carolina University. 

Students were selected based on a number of factors including academic performance, community service and personal interviews.

For 54 years, Blue Ridge Electric has awarded college scholarships toaling $372,700, and helped more than 365 local youth attend the college of their choice.
