A Foscoe teenager died in a single-vehicle car crash on Mast Gap Road on a rainy Sunday at about 1 p.m., according to the Watauga County Sheriff’s Office.
Brandon Aldridge, 16, of Aldridge Park Road in Foscoe, died on the scene. His 12-year-old brother, who was helped out the vehicle by a witness before law enforcement arrived, was transported to the Watuaga Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries.
A trooper with the State Highway Patrol told WSOC-TV that Aldridge was “traveling north on Mast Gap Road when he rounded a curve and went left of center. His 2005 Subaru sedan ran off the road to the left, down an embankment, struck a tree which tore the roof off and then nose-dived into a creek.”
Aldridge was pinned in the vehicle and rescuers took an hour to free Aldridge. The Cove Creek Fire Department and Watauga County Sheriff’s Office were among the responders assisting with the rescue.
Funeral arrangements for Brandon Harvey Aldridge are incomplete at this time. Online condolences may be sent to the Aldridge family at www.hamptonfuneralnc.com.
