In its ongoing effort to provide community service and special events to keep the community involved, the Foscoe Ruritan Club will again host its annual “Homegrown Music Festival” on Saturday, August 11, in conjunction with the Foscoe-Grandfather Community Park in Foscoe, where the event will be held.
Now in its fourth year, this family-fun festival, running from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., will once again showcase some of the area’s tented musicians and musical groups, while at the same time serve as a fundraiser to assist with the Ruritan Clubs projects throughout the year.
This year’s entertainment lineup will offer a variety of music for everyone — from gospel and contemporary Christian, to country and bluegrass, and includes the following:
11 a.m. Adam Church
12 p.m. Bethel Road
1 p.m. High Country Boomers
2 p.m. Blue Country
3 p.m. The Dollar Brothers.
In addition to the music, patrons will also enjoy booths with arts and crafts, as well as a silent auction and great food, provided by the Ruritan club members.
A spokesperson for the club said that 100 percent of the monies raised during the event will go back into the community.
The Foscoe Ruritan Club is one of several across the High Country that works together for the good of their fellow man, providing college scholarships for deserving students, helping with unmet medical needs, supplying wood for the cold winters, donating food for families during the holidays, as well as donations to local schools, organizations and much more.
Gates will open at 10:30 a.m. on the day of the festival.
Bring your chairs and plan to spend the day cooling off in the shadows of Grandfather Mountain.
Vendor booths are still available, and may be reserved for $25 each by calling (828) 964-6322. If no answer, leave a message and your call will be returned.
Admission is $8 in advance or $10 day of show for adults. Children ages 3-12 $5; under 3 are free. Special price for families is $25.
Advance tickets can be purchased from Foscoe Ruritan Club members or online at Eventbrite under Foscoe Ruritan Homegrown Music Festival.
Foscoe Grandfather Community Center is located at 233 Park Road, Banner Elk, which is on Hwy. 105 South in Foscoe.
