FORUM with Lees-McRae Has it’s Fourth Performance of the Summer this Monday, July 9

By Elly Murray

In Banner Elk, Lees-McRae has been organizing FORUM as a way to bring cultural programs to the area for over 38 years. The events of FORUM are spectacular at bringing the High Country community together, in an enjoyable and entertaining way.

Patrons begin to arrive at 6 p.m. for the performance at 7, and they appreciate the free parking right next to the theatre on Lees-McRae’s campus as they pull in.

The fact that the performance is in Lees-McRae’s comfy indoor theatre also means that they don’t have to get rained on, a definite plus for the people of our waterlogged county.  The excited families and locals come in and take a seat, ready to enjoy the show and return home with some amazing tales.

Every year, Lees-McRae selects 8 programs that they know will dazzle the High Country. The fourth program for the 2018 year William Michals is this Monday, July 9.

William Michals is definitely one of the most unique performers in the United States. Known as “America’s Baritone”, he has sung the National Anthem at many major league sporting events, performed on Broadway as the Beast from “Beauty and the Beast”, and is described in reviews as having, “dazzling, dastardly charm and mesmerizing elegance.”

There are several different types of ticket plans available for these performances, including FORUM Patron and FORUM Centurion. If you purchase FORUM Patron for $150, you get open seating tickets to all eights shows, and if you purchase FORUM Centurion for $450, you get reserved seats and parking for all eight shows.

The performances take place in the Hayes Auditorium of the Broyhill Theatre and doors open at 6 p.m., with the excitement beginning at 7. We’ll see you there!

The lineup for the remaining FORUM with Lees-McRae’s summer music performances is as follows:

July 9: William Michals

July 16: Branden and James: “From Bach to Bieber”

July 23: The Dutton Experience

July 30: Glenn Miller Orchestra

Aug. 6: The StepCrew
