A forum on “Politics in Education,” focused on the implications of the 2016 election for education policy, will be held at Appalachian State University in Anne Belk Hall Room 118 (lower level) on Wednesday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.

Speakers will include: Dr. Rennie Brantz, the mayor of Boone and ASU History professor; Dr. Jay Fenwick, member of the Watauga County Board of Education and ASU Computer Science professor; Dr. Cary Fraser, ASU Government and Justice Studies professor and former president of the University of Belize; Jalyn Howard, president of ASU’s Student Government Association; and Ayako Nakano, chief of staff of ASU’s Student Government Association.

Presentations will be followed by an open discussion.

The event is sponsored by Faculty Forward Network, a 501(c)3 organization consisting of faculty, students, parents, and allies who believe that higher education needs to once again serve all students, faculty, non-faculty higher education staff, and the surrounding communities. The education forum in Boone follows similar forums organized by Faculty Forward Network in Greenville on September 14 and in Durham on September 19.
