Five Mile Woolly Worm Woad Wace Held Saturday, Oct. 11 at Lees-McRae College Track in Banner Elk

Sept. 4, 2014. The five-mile Woolly Worm Woad Wace takes runners on a cross country road course through the back roads and countryside of Avery County. The race begins on the Williams Gym track, located on the beautiful High Country campus of Lees-McRae woad_wace_2014_redo_wc1_flatCollege on Hickory Nut Gap Road in the quaint one-red-light town of Banner Elk.

This scenic course will have runners journeying through the beautiful 150-acre Holston Bresbytery Camp and Retreat, past ponds and creeks and returning to the track. This challenging course pushes runners to elevation changes and showcases the majestic beauty of our country.

Registration on the day of the Wace opens at 7:30 p.m. behind the Williams Gum on Hickory Nut Gap Road on the Lees-McRae College Campus.

The race begins at 9 a.m. One Mile Fun Wun begins at 10:15 a.m. and the cost is just $10 to get our wunners out there and having fun. Pre-register by going to www.runsignup.com/woollywormwoadwace.

Stop by the Williams YMCA located in the Sloop Medical Office Plaza next to Cannon Memorial Hospital or the Avery Chamber located at the intersection of N.C. 105 and N.C. 184 in the Tynecastle Shoppes and is open daily 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Advanced cost is $25 and race day registration is $30.
