FRIDAY: First Friday Art Crawl Returns to Downtown Boone this Upcoming Friday, July 7

Throughout the year, downtown Boone hosts an Art Crawl on the first Friday of every month. This month’s Art Crawl will be taking place this Friday, July 7, at 6 p.m. Thanks to the Art Crawl, residents and visitors to the area can stroll through downtown to witness and admire local art. There will be art openings and receptions, artist demonstrations, live entertainment, complimentary refreshments and more all down King Street.

The upcoming First Friday Art Crawl will be taking place on Friday, July 3, with a variety of different artists and activities going on throughout the evening. Beginning at 6 p.m., attendees can peruse through downtown Boone, taking a look at local shops and restaurants while also enjoying artist demonstrations, art work and studios.

While you are admiring the art work of local artists, don’t forget to stop by the Jones House for the Music on Lawn Summer Concert Series that begins every Friday at 5 p.m. This Friday, there will be performances by Tellico and Amantha Hill, two amazing musical talents to serenade you on a warm, summer evening as you watch artists create beautiful things.

Along with the art demonstrations and artwork, the Watauga County Library will be participating in this Friday’s Art Crawl. Thanks to a grant the library received from the High Country Watermedia Society and funding from the DBDA, the library was able to purchase an art display system and will now be able to participate for the First Friday Art Crawls. This Friday, from 5-6:30 p.m., it will be hosting art that has been generated by the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum’s Afternoon Art and Doodlebug Club programs.

Not only this, but there is going to be a very special celebration this Friday as part of the First Friday Art Crawl. The Nth˚Gallery & Studios in downtown Boone (located at 683 W. King St.) will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary! At 7 p.m. on July 7, the Gallery will be presenting a show that will feature art from present and former members of the studios. However, it is also the Gallery’s primary fundraiser, so it would be much appreciated if those who attend would be able to bring some support for the Gallery. There will be art by members and former members, the return of the Free Expression Wall, and there will also be food and beverages, but the event is Bring Your Own Beer.

With this celebration, as well as the debut of the artist display at the library and the Jones House summer concert, this month’s First Friday Art Crawl will be filled with something for everyone, whether it is watching an artist paint, listening to a musician sing or simply walking around and experiencing our home with one another, this is one event in downtown Boone that nobody should miss out on.

While most of the galleries and art shows will be opening at 6 p.m. and closing around 8:30 p.m., you can find a full list of events, descriptions and times on the Downtown Boone website
