Oct. 31, 2013. On Friday, Nov. 1, downtown Boone will be taken over by the monthly First Friday Art Crawl. Like always, this month’s crawl will feature food, drinks and live music with work and exhibitions from local artists. And as usual, everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some Friday night fun. If you’ve never experienced First Friday Art Crawl, here is your chance to get in on what the locals already know! Head on down to downtown Boone and enjoy a Friday night out on the town. Here’s what is happening this month.
Where to Go:
Gladiola Girls
Staying open late until 8 p.m., Gladiola Girls, located at 549 West King Street will host artist Betsy Troxler and her artwork, and will also offer refreshments to visiting patrons.
Doe Ridge Pottery
Located at 585 W. King Street #D, Doe Ridge Pottery will be featuring artist Nancy Graham from Blowing Rock. Refreshments will also be served.
Jones House Community Center
The Jones House will be hosting a photography exhibit from Mountain Alliance as well as a sculpture exhibit showcasing sculptures by Joe Bigley. Refreshments will be served from 6:30- 8:00 p.m.
Art Walk
Come view the countless independent artists featured at Art Walk, and don’t forget to stop by for wine and snacks.
Murphy’s
Located at 747 W. King St.
Murphy’s will be open until 3 a.m.
Char
Located at 179 Howard St.
Char will celebrate Art Crawl with a buy one get one special and a wine special as well. Char will be open until 2 a.m. with the restaurant closing at 10 p.m. this evening.
Lucky Penny and Shear Shakti
This month, Lucky Penny and Shear Shakti will showcase artist Glory Silweder, senior graphic design major at Appalachian, and her jewelry line Glory Dawn from 6-9 p.m. She hand draws and etches each copper piece and uses the finest materials to ensure a great product. Refreshments will also be served to guests.
