First Friday Art Crawl: Downtown Boone Comes Alive With the November Edition of This Evening Tradition

Nov. 6, 2014. On Friday, Nov. 7, downtown Boone will be taken over by the First Friday Art Crawl. Like always, this month’s crawl will feature food, drinks and live music with work and exhibitions from local artists. And as usual, everyone is invited to come out and enjoy some Friday night fun. If you’ve never experienced First Friday Art Crawl, here is your chance to get in on what the locals already know! Head on down to downtown Boone and enjoy a Friday night out on the town. Here’s what is happening this month.

Where to Go:

Jones House Community Center
The Jones House Community and Cultural Center will host a First Friday Gallery Reception from 6:30-8 p.m. featuring the artwork of Lou Murrey in the Mazie Jones Gallery. Upstairs Gallery One will host photography from Mountain Alliance Outdoor Photography and Upstairs Gallery Two will feature the work of painter Andree Amarica. The Jones House is located at 604 W. Lucky Penny will be open from 6-9 for Art Crawl and will feature work from potter Melina LaVecchia, who graduated from Appalachian State University and now works out of her Boone studio. Her table ware is inspired by local culinary expression, her Italian heritage and the joy of lingering and the table just a bit longer. For more information about this event call 828-264-0302. 

The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts
The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts in Boone will host the Movies by Movers Film Festival starting on Nov. 7. The fifth annual event will start at 6 p.m. on Nov. 7, and continue on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 11 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Started by dance faculty member Cara Hagen five years ago, the dance festival celebrates human motion on film and in digital media. Admission for the event is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, please call 828-262-3017.

Lost Province Brewing Company
Lost Province Brewing Company will offer live music featuring Andy Ferrell starting at 8 a.m. with no cover charge. Lost Province is located at 130 N. Depot St. For more information, call 265-3506.

Art of Oil
Art of Oil, located at 819 W. King Street, will offer tastings of delicious, gourmet olive oils and balsamic vinegars. The tastings will be paired with complementing wines.

Art Walk
Located at 611 West King Street, Art Walk will offer wine and refreshments to guests during the Art Crawl. For more information, contact Art Walk at 264-9998.

Old World Galleries
Old World Galleries, located at 697 W. King St will present art by painter Jane Miller showcased alongside Old World Galleries’ stunning jewelry. For more information, contact Old World Galleries at 828-264-6559.

Anna Banana’s
Located at 641 West King Street, Anna Banana’s will offer refreshments and as always, customers can dance for a 10-percent discount on merchandise! Claire Bilbao will offer face painting and Henna tattoos will be offered by Maria Perry. For more information, call 828-865-2000.

The Local
The Local will feature live music on Friday night, along with their delicious menu items. The Local is located at 179 Howard St. For more information, call 828-266-2179.

Doe Ridge Pottery
