Feb. 12, 2014. It finally started snowing in Boone at about the same time ASU closed at noon. On Tuesday, the National Weather Service forecasted that the snow would begin falling at about 7 a.m. in Watauga County, and then the onset time for snow was pushed back to 9 a.m.
With no snow leading into lunchtime, people in town were beginning to wonder if the storm was coming to the High Country at all. As it stands the snow has been falling for about two hours now and the winter storm warning doesn’t expire until tomorrow evening. It’s possible that all areas of the High Country receive 10-plus inches of snow.
