Final Harvest Boone Festival Set for Aug. 19-21, Pre-Event Concerts in Boone Aug. 18

By Cramer Lewis

The final Harvest Boone Community Outreach festival will return this weekend, Aug. 19-21.

The Harvest Boone festival and its springtime counterpart, Boone in Blossom, have become staples of the local music and arts scene during since their inception six years ago. Several featured bands from the festival will perform Thursday night at Boone Saloon and Murphy’s Pub to get this community event rolling.

The festival will officially kick off when gates open at noon on Friday at the Sugar Hollow Retreat Center grounds in Butler, Tennessee and will wrap up on Sunday afternoon. Sponsored by Gati Productions, it boasts a nonstop lineup of local and regional music. Attendees can camp at the grounds, upgrade to available indoor facilities or purchase day passes.

In addition to the music, the festival offers daily workshops “offered by various community members [which allow] participants to walk away with new found knowledge and tools that cater to all interests,” according to Gati Productions. “These workshops range from yoga, meditation, massage, acro-yoga, edible & medicinal herb walks, to small scale farming techniques, fire building skills, and the list goes on.”

The festival seeks to showcase the talent that makes Boone a unique community.

The lineup features familiar names like Metaphonia and Travers Brothership in the headlining spots Saturday night. Metaphonia and Deaf Scene will also be featured at Boone Saloon tonight alongside up-and-coming local acts The Blue Wild and DownTown Abby & the Echoes, who will play at Murphy’s Pub as a part of pre-party events.

‘The festival is unique in the sense that participants can pay their entrance fee half with canned food items and half with cash,” according to Gati Productions.

The proceeds will go to the Hunger & Health Coalition, and the festivals have raised over 12 tons of food during the past six years. Tickets are $50 cash at the gate or $20 cash plus $20 worth of canned food items. Day passes are $30 cash only. Camping is included with ticket purchase.

Gati Productions is not putting an end to all of their Boone-centric activities; instead, they have decided to make this their last Harvest Boone festival in order to focus their recourses primarily on the springtime Boone in Blossom festival.
