Oct. 22, 2012. Super style and high fashion hair converged when Lucky Penny and Shear Shakti held their fall fashion show last Friday, Oct. 19 at 8:30 p.m at their business on West King Street. The show, which is held each spring and fall, showcases the fashion that Lucky Penny has to offer along with hairstyles by Charlotte Sweeney of ShearShakti.

“This fashion show is all about customer appreciation,” said Jennele Vaquera, the owner of Lucky Penny on West King Street, which shares a building with ShearShakti hair salon. “Since we share a building, we consider ourselves business roommates and we try work together and pull customers for each other.”

Last Friday found the location packed with old customers and new faces alike.

Along with the usual college crowd, the fashion show attracted many young professionals, local parents and visitors to the area as well.

Aside from the fashion show, the first 40 guests were greeted with door prizes including gift boxes and funky rings as gifts for attending the show. On the way out, guests received desserts to go from Black Canary. Music for the event was provided by OK disconnect.

“This is a great way for our businesses to combine our efforts to plan a fun event for the community,” said Vaquera.

The fashion show, which is a semi annual collaborative event, was completely free and open to the public. The spring show’s dates have not yet been decided, but it is sure to be a hit.
