Dec. 12, 2014. Families will soon have another reason to visit the High Country beginning next season: construction is underway on High Gravity Adventure, a new aerial adventure park located next to Tweetsie Railroad. The new attraction will have multiple components and high-adrenaline activities for children and adults. High Gravity Adventure is scheduled to open this spring in conjunction with the opening of Tweetsie Railroad’s 2015 season on April 10.
High Gravity Adventure will be comprised of three main components, the first being a breathtaking Adventure Course with three levels of challenges that progress in difficulty 20 feet, 35 feet and 50 feet off the ground. In all, more than 50 different challenges will make up the Adventure Course. The second component will be a Junior Course, located 15 feet off the ground and designed to provide activities for younger children.
The third and most exciting component, planned as part of Phase 2, is a Zip Line Tour and Freefall. The Zip Line Tour will take thrill seekers on an exhilarating series of aerial journeys through Blue Ridge Mountain forests and meadows surrounding Tweetsie Railroad.
“High Gravity Adventure is honored and excited to partner with Tweetsie Railroad in bringing active family fun to the High Country,” says Ken Jacquot, President of High Gravity Adventure. “Our specialty is creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to experience the vertical world, and we hope visitors will include High Gravity Adventure when they visit the Boone/Blowing Rock area.”
“Tweetsie Railroad has been delivering family-friendly, Wild West adventure and entertainment for nearly 60 years,” adds Chris Robbins, President of Tweetsie Railroad. “Starting next spring, High Gravity Adventure is going to be another great reason for families to visit Tweetsie.”
High Gravity Adventure will have activities for children as young as four or five years old, as well as adults. No experience is required; with challenges of varying difficulty levels being offered, there will be something to please hardcore adventure seekers as well as people who prefer to keep their adventure closer to the ground. High Gravity Adventure utilizes state-of-the-art safety systems and the latest technology in all of its courses.
“The new High Gravity Adventure will be a great addition to the tourism product in the Boone area it adds a new element to our diverse outdoor adventure opportunities, and it¹s sure to be popular with new and returning visitors,” says Wright Tilley, Executive Director of the Watauga County Tourism Development Authority (TDA). “The Southeast has seen an increase in these types of courses over the past few years, so it¹s exciting to have a new one under construction in our area.”
Challenge Towers Aerial Adventures, the parent company of High Gravity Adventure, has constructed aerial courses and zip lines across the United States and around the world.
