The F.A.R.M. Cafe Board of Directors is very pleased report that $11,500 has been invested with the Watauga Community Foundation. These funds were raised through individual donors who matched $5,000 that was raised at the 2015 Real. Good. Party! which took place in April 2015.
The Watauga County Community Foundation is part of the larger nonprofit N.C. Community Foundation, which facilitates community investments in the vitality and future of primarily rural communities throughout North Carolina. Investing through the community fund will help secure F.A.R.M. Cafe’s continuing presence in Boone, N.C. as a community cafe working to end food insecurity in the High Country.
The N.C. Community Foundation, created in 1988, is a nonprofit that encourages philanthropy throughout the state. With a minimum contribution of $10,000, a private foundation or nonprofit contributes to a pool of funds that N.C. Community Foundation uses to support other agencies and nonprofits through grants. The investments also provide returns that F.A.R.M. Café will utilize to secure its future strength. By spreading the wealth amongst local philanthropic organizations, the goal to improve the quality of life in the High Country is made possible, for now and in the future.
This is not the first time that F.A.R.M. Café has worked with the North Carolina Community Foundation. Two years ago the local eatery applied for a grant from the Foundation and received $3,000 which was utilized to purchase a produce storage refrigerator and other essential items for running a café.
Plans to increase this investment include committing a percentage of proceeds from the annual F.A.R.M. Café Real.Good.Party! Next year’s event will be held March 18 at the Meadowbrook Inns and Suites in Blowing Rock, N.C. Individual donations to the endowment are also always welcome.
If you are interested in investing in F.A.R.M. Café’s future, you are invited to make your pledge in support of the Café’s endowment campaign. All contributions are tax deductible. Visit the Café during business hours to fill out a pledge card or go to the website farmcafe.org.
