Ensemble Stage to Host “Friend Raiser” on June 2, Free Food and Backstage Tours!

By Elly Murray

Ensemble Stage will be hosting a “Friend Raiser” on June 2 at 1 p.m. This event is not to raise money for the theatre, but rather to raise awareness and familiarity about the theatre.

The event will take place in the courtyard of the Historic Banner Elk School, and free food will be provided, including hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, beer and wine.

The staff will also be taking guests on a tour of the rehearsal room and backstage. As Gary Smith, the artistic director of Ensemble Stage, explains, “We’ll take them on a little tour of all the little spaces we have here, and our sets. They’ll be able to see the rehearsal room as it’s laid out for rehearsal, which is kind of neat for people who have never experienced that before, and they’ll get to see backstage and behind the sets and how different things are backstage as opposed to in front of the stage.” This is also one of the only times guests will get a chance to see behind the scenes, so be sure to take advantage of the opportunity!

The Friend Raiser will be a great way to get to know the people of Ensemble Stage better, get a little behind the scenes look at how their theatre operates, and enjoy some free food. As Gary Smith says, “We’re not asking for money, it’s just letting them get to know us a little better and get some free food. And who doesn’t want free food?”

Ensemble Stage is located at 185 Azalea Cir SE, and season and single tickets to all of Ensemble Stage’s 2018 shows are on sale now at www.ensemblestage.com
