THIS WEEKEND: Waiting for MacArthur Continues This Weekend, Closes Season for Ensemble Stage

Ensemble Stage will perform its last production of the season beginning this weekend, so don’t miss it! Waiting for MacArthur will show Aug. 27 through Sept. 4 at the Blowing Rock Auditorium. waiting-for-macarthur-web

The play is about a young army nurse in the 1940s, who writes from the Philippine Island of Corregidor to her mother, her teacher and her best friend. The four women are changed and marked by a world at war.

Plays by P. Paulette MacDougal’s, the playwright of Waiting for MacArthur, have been performed throughout the United States, along with other English-speaking countries.

According to dramaticpublishing.com, MacDougal is, “An award-winning playwright and filmmaker,” who, “holds an M.F.A. degree from Columbia University and has taught cinema studies at Drew University. She has performed in opera and musical comedy and is currently artistic director of Paradox Players in Austin, Texas.”

  • Monday, Aug. 29 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday, Aug. 30 7:30 p.m.
  • Friday, Sept. 2 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, Sept. 3 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, Sept. 4 2 p.m.

Tickets are $21 for adults, $19 for seniors, students and military, and $11 for children 16 years old and younger.

All performances are held at the Blowing Rock School Auditorium, 160 Sunset Drive.
