Ensemble Stage Fall Show Lineup Begins with ‘Vincent,’ Written by Leonard Nimoy, on Sept. 28-29

Sept. 27, 2013. Ensemble Stage in Blowing Rock has announced the autumn theater lineup for this fall after a summer full of sold-out shows and spectacular talent. This autumn, the theater will be showing four great shows to get you through the cooler seasons. 

First up is “Vincent,” a show about the life of the famous artist Vincent Van Gogh that will help to celebrate Blowing Rock’s Arts Rock month. The show will run on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. and Sept. 29 at 5 p.m. “Vincent,” written by Leonard Nimoy, is a moving play about the life of Vincent Van Gogh and his trip through life to find his true calling as an artist. 

estagelogoblkNext will follow a production of “The Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow,” to get the spooks in just in time for Halloween. This great show will be featured on Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. This adaptation of Washington Irving’s famous short story, this production will be done in the style of 1940’s radio dramas with live sound effects.

“Our radio dramas are always really popular,” said Garry Smith of Ensemble Stage.

“All of the sound effects are done live on stage and it gives people a microcosmic insight into the process of putting these shows together. It’s a totally new experience for a lot of people.”

Following up will be “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a production that has been called America’s Christmas Carol. This fantastic favorite will be showing on Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. Also performed in the style of a radio drama, this performance is a treat for anyone looking to kick off their holiday traditions with something a little different. 

Finally, in keeping with the annual tradition, “Christmas in Blowing Rock,” will be presented in a “best of” edition with favorites from past shows. This show will run Dec. 13 and 14 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. This performance is modeled after TV specials of the 70s complete with song and dance.  During this show, guests will be treated to the “greatest hits” of past “Christmas in Blowing Rock” productions .

Ensemble Stage was created to bring theater to the High Country community and the need to provide the citizens of the area with affordable access to the performing arts.
