1) Broyhill Civic Center Presents Western Piedmont Symphony and Buffet Meal
The J.E. Broyhill Civic Center will host the Western Piedmont Symphony on Tuesday, July 2, at 7:00 p.m. for “A Night of Cinematic Favorites” which will feature well known tunes from popular movies such as Forest Gump, Mission Impossible and Star Wars as well as patriotic marches. Prior to the show, the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center Catering Group will offer a pre-show buffet that will feature Red, White and Blue Salad, Grilled Flank Steak, Garlic and Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Southern Green Beans and Apple Pie Galette with Ice Cream. The meal begins at 5:45 p.m. Tickets for the show are $12.50 for adults, $6 for children. Discount tickets for groups of six or more are available for $7.50 each. Special Guests: Appalachian State Women’s Soccer Team, Zumba-atomic with Nevada, Beech Mountain Volunteer Fire Department, Beech Mountain Police Department, Tanya Poole from the North Carolina Wildlife Resource Commission, Leave No Trace, Joe Schope from the Avery County Forestry Services, survival skills with Brie Powell, Kevin Hining from the Marion Hatchery and the Boone Shag Club.
Every Thursday night during camp, the Brick Oven Pizzaria will host the Buckeye Summer Camp for a movie under the stars.
3) Pregnancy Massage Now Offered at the Boone Healing Arts Center
We are pleased to announce that the four massage therapists at the Boone Healing Arts Center are all certified as Nurturing the Mother pregnancy massage therapists. Dianna Lee, Debra Helene, Phoenix Fisher and Melissa Pollard are now offering pregnancy massage to help expecting mothers stay comfortable through their entire pregnancy and prepare for labor and delivery. Research from the Touch Institute of Miami shows that pregnancy massage helps manage blood pressure, strengthens the immune system, reduces stress for mother and baby, alleviates anxiety and and depression, prepares the muscles for labor and delivery and improves sleep.
