1) Breakfast at the Post

Start your Saturday right with The Watauga American Legion Post #130 at 135 Bear Trail/Junaluska City Park in Boone. Country Breakfast at the Post starts on Saturday morning, Aug. 17 from 7-10 a.m. The cost is $8 per person for an all you can eat home cooked breakfast. The menu includes country ham, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy, hash browns, grits, cooked apples and fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee, regular and buckwheat pancakes. For take out, please call 264-2864. This program is open to the public. Thank for for supporting local veterans and veteran programs. 

2) Free Watercolor Class at Daniel Boone Native Gardens

Daniel Boone Native Gardens will offer a free class on “how to illustrate a garden journal” with watercolorist JoAnn Pippin. Learn about painting flowers and creative garden journal ideas at the Daniel Boone Native Gardens on Saturday, Aug. 17 from 9:30 a.m. to noon. This program will go on rain or shine. Beginners are welcome, bring your own paints and paper. Some materials will be provided at the Gardens. The Gardens are located next to Horn in the West in Boone. 

3) 64th Annual Meeting and Awards of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce

Dinner starts at 5:15 p.m., program at 6 p.m. Join the “round up” at the 64th annual Meeting and Awards of the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Tweetsie Railroad. Cost is $25 per person. Saddle up and enjoy the fun with dinner, entertainment and a train ride to boot! Cowboys and cowgirls welcome!
