1) Mule Days at Leatherwood Mountains Resort
Leatherwood Mountains Resort will be hosting it’s first ever Mule Days celebration. There will me more than 100 mules and donkeys from nine states in attendance. Free to attend and watch, here is your chance to get up close and personal with some of the countries top mules and donkeys. Bring your folding chair, because you are going to want to stay all four days from May 1-4. Saturday, May 3, a Mule and Donkey Show featuring classes from Western Pleasure to Gaming. The Trail Obstacle Competition will feature ranch and trail style obstacles for the Mules and Donkeys to test their training and skills. At 4 p.m. on Saturday a parade through the stables and campground will allow you to see all the mules and donkeys dressed up in their finest. On the Saturday night we will hold a Mule Celebration Dinner and hand out awards from the days competitions, RSVP for the dinner by April 30, $12 per person to 336-973-5044. A vendor mall will be open for the entire event featuring vendors from all over the Southeast. Handcrafted arts, equine equipment and various other interesting items will be available for purchase. Starting Thursday afternoon through Sunday afternoon there will be free educational seminars and live demonstrations. A Coon Jumping Competition and auction will take place on Friday evening. Leatherwood will also be hosting a chili cook-off on Friday evening. Free tasting and judging in several categories. 2) 6th Annual Combat Veterans Association 15-5 Benefit Ride Hosted by Crossroads Harley Davidson
One thousand Harleys ridden by Combat Wounded Veterans and their supporters will soon be riding through your area and we are excited to invite you to our event. We are trying to raise awareness for the 6th annual Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association (CVMA) 15-5 Benefit Ride Hosted by Crossroads Harley Davidson on May 3.This is an exciting event created to honor our Combat Wounded Veterans. Last year over $30,000 was raised and dispersed to local organizations and Veterans in need. The more money raised at this event, the more Combat Veterans in need can be helped throughout the year by this amazing group. Please see the event and ride details below. The 6th Annual CVMA 15-5 Ride (www.cvmaride.com) will begin with registration and line-up at 10am in the midst of a Fun, “Can’t Miss” event hosted by CrossRoads Harley-Davidson in beautiful Wilkesboro, NC (www.crossroads-hd.com). The 52-mile, police-escorted ride will begin sharply at 1:00pm and end at River City Bar & Grill (www.rivercitybarandgrillkn.com) in Lake Norman, NC. Everyone is encouraged to come out to the Pre & Post Events whether you have a bike, or not to help us raise money for such an amazing cause! If you live along the route between Wilkesboro, Statesville, Troutman and Lake Norman; come out in your yard and wave as the bikes go by! Many of our riders are Veterans and this is a great opportunity to show your appreciation. Events will include Live Bands, Food and Beverages, Silent and Live Auction, and a 50/50 Giveaway. Past 50/50 winners have won up to $800! An avid supporter of our troops past and present, American Country Music Artist, Rockie Lynne, will be performing this year! In the past this ride has benefited: The Fisher House of NC, Purple Heart Homes, Project Rover, Project Healing Waters, Project Healing Hunt, Welcome Home Vets and several individual veterans in need.
