1) Hayes String Ensemble Performs Jan. 22

Join the Hayes String Ensemble Jan. 22 for an evening of classical and contemporary music. The free performance begins at 6 p.m. in Broyhill Music Center’s Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University. The ensemble is comprised of graduate students from the Hayes School of Music. The musicians will perform “String Quartet No. 4” by Peteris Vasks, “Images” by Marcel Tournier, “Quintet for Harp and Strings” by Arnold Bax and “String Quartet No. 10, Op. 74” by Ludwig van Beethoven. 

2) Live Performance and Residency: River North Dance Chicago Jan. 31 at Schaefer Center

For 24 years, River North Dance Chicago has been touring their contemporary, Jazz based repertoire nationally and internationally. As a part of the South Arts Touring Dance Initiative, Appalachian State University’s Performing Arts Series will be hosting the dance company for a residency on campus and a live performance on Jan. 31 at 8 p.m. at the Schaefer Center for the Performing Arts.
