The new and re-elected members of the Blowing Rock Town Council will be sworn in on Tuesday, Dec. 8.
Blowing Rock Town Clerk Sharon Greene will swear in Councilmen Albert Yount and Jim Steele and also re-elected Mayor J.B. Lawrence.
Other agenda items for Tuesday’s meeting include the consideration of a resolution naming the bridge connecting U.S. 321 to the Foley Center at Chestnut Ridge as the Reba and Grady Moretz Bridge. See more info on that here.
Town Manager Scott Fogleman will also update the Blowing Rock Town Council on the federal grant that the town applied for in February to construct a sidewalk that would connect downtown Blowing Rock to Bass Lake.
According to a recent memo to council, “The Town of Blowing Rock has been notified that the Federal Lands Access Program grant associated with constructing the sidewalk from Main Street along the north side of Highway 221 to Bass Lake has been selected to move forward to the next step in the approval process. That process includes the completion of a Memorandum of Agreement. Once the memorandum of agreement has been completed and reviewed by all parties, it will be brought back before Council for approval.”
