Many High Country churches invite you to observe the Easter holiday and the resurrection of Christ through a series of ongoing events, many beginning as early as March 19. Some offer family-friendly Easter fun, too, including cantatas and egg hunts for everyone.

Bethel Baptist Church

Egg Hunt at Bethel Park: March 19, 2 p.m.
Bring your kids to Bethel Baptist Church for its Easter Egg Hunt in the park. Bethel will be collecting plastic Easter eggs and candy for the hunt until then. You will be able to drop off the items at the church office.
Special Children’s Service: March 20, 9:45 a.m

Boone United Methodist Church

Egg Hunt: March 26
Easter Sunrise: 8:45 a.m.
Join Boone United Methodist Church (Boone UMC) as it hosts its Easter Sunrise Service on March 27 from 8:45-9:45 p.m. The service will feature “an excellent praise band plus the best of both contemporary and ancient forms of worship.
Boone UMC will host its Crossroads from 10:55 a.m.-12 p.m., which is a favorite of high school, college students and adults who enjoy a dynamic and energetic atmosphere.
Don’t worry if you’re not into that kind of service, they will also hold a traditional worship service at that time. After worship, the church will hold its monthly Faith Builders Lego Club meeting at 3 p.m. for kids in first through third grades. If interested, meet at the Chapel, and your child will learn a new building block of faith. This includes a short lesson, prayer time and a specific building project with Legos. Your kids will need to bring their own Legos in a container with a lid and their name on it, and if you don’t have any, contact Colette at 828-264-6090.

Every day between Monday, March 21-Wednesday, March 23, residents and visitors will gather at FaithBridge United Methodist Church at noon for a special worship service and luncheon.
First Presbyterian Church

Join First Presbyterian Church in fellowship on Easter morning for a “joyful time of celebration” at 9:30 a.m. in the multipurpose room. You are encouraged to bring finger food to share with everyone. Your children pre-k through fifth grade will have the option of staying with you for a blending service or going to Sunday School.
Laurel Springs Baptist Church

Join Laurel Springs Baptist Church for its Easter Sunrise at 7 a.m. and breakfast afterward. There will be no Sunday school after or evening service or activities later that night. Sunday school is usually at 9:45 a.m. and morning service is at 10:50 a.m.

St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church

Palm Sunday: March 20, 8 a.m. and 10:10 a.m.
St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church will begin its observance of Holy Week at 8 a.m. on Palm Sunday and continue at 10:10 a.m. for the Procession of Palms and Holy Eucharist service.
Maundy Thursday: March 24, 7 p.m.
The church will host Maundy Thursday with a Vigil, before the sacraments.
Veneration of the Cross, Mass of the Pre-Sanctified: March 25, noon
On Good Friday, return to St. Mary’s to celebrate the Veneration of the Cross and Mass of the Pre-Sanctified. All members, guests and friends are welcome.
Liturgy of the Word: March 26, 8:30 a.m.
Great Vigil of Easter: March 27, 6 a.m.
Members, guests and friends will return to St. Mary’s on Easter Day at 6 a.m. for the Great Vigil of Easter. The activities will include an Easter Breakfast at 8 a.m., an Easter Egg Hunt, the flowering of the cross with children and all churchgoers at 9:45 and the Solemn Eucharist of the Resurrection Service at 10:10 a.m.
